Daniel Negreanu, born 26 July 1974 in Toronto, Canada, actually dreamed of a career as an actor or comedian, but instead he learned to play poker. When he was 16 years old, he spent most of his time in the betting pool halls, with sports or playing cards in illegal games in Toronto. He left high school shortly before graduation, and focused instead on his poker game. When he was then 21 he moved to Las Vegas.
It was not long until Negreanu lost all his money at the poker tables in Vegas and had been forced to return back to Toronto in order to improve his game and build up his bankroll again. He returned to Las Vegas with the goal of making a name for himself, and this he succeeded. In 1997 he won two events at the Foxwoods World Poker Finals and in 1998 he won the $ 2,000 Pot Limit Hold’em event at the World Series of Poker, which he became the youngest WSOP bracelet winner ever. Daniel continued his professional poker career, and 3 more WSOP bracelets and two World Poker Tour event win. At the WSOP in 2004 he was elected player of the year, and a year later he was crowned the best player of the World Poker Tour 2005. Negreanu has recorded a total of 111 cashes and has so far won $ 10,800,000 in tournaments. He thus stands in second place of all-time money list behind Jamie Gold and No. 1 on the WPT circuit money list.
He was a “poker ambassador” for the Wynn Las Vegas when it opened, announced this post, but in October 2005 because he felt it was holding the high-stakes games played outside the Wynn.
